Robert G. Vanderbilt ’48

Bob Vanderbilt joined us by way of Garden City (N.Y.) High School. He was a lifelong denizen of Garden City and died of emphysema there Sept. 17, 2010.

At Princeton, Bob was in Prospect and graduated with honors in engineering. He was involved in music groups, including band, symphony, dance band, and jazz band.

Bob’s principal occupation was in engineering administration with Grumman Corp. He retired in 1988. In addition to music performances, he enjoyed gardening, tennis, hiking, and travel.

Bob is survived by his widow, Graydon; and his children, Peter ’75 and David.
