Robert G. Whaley ’35
BOB WHALEY DIED of cancer Nov. 20, 1994, at age 82. Some months ago, knowing he was approaching the end of his earthly days, he sent an autobiographical letter to Eldon Earle, then our secretary. "I was born on July 22, 1912. I attended Morristown School and thanks to a sportsoriented Dad went early to Princeton games in the 20s ... jobs after college consisted mostly of publishing in New York ... magazines all my life ... circulation, advertising, mostly marketing ... war years were effectively cared for by the Marine Corps with action in the Pacific [as a fighter pilot] winding up [as a captain] in Japan on occupation duty. Decorated for action.
“The rest of my active life was spent in California, where I established my own company, with offices in S.F. and LA ... many years were active in ranching and riding activities ... also active in theater ... member of Masque Club in Hollywood ... Five children, 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren."
Bob had four wives; his first, Beatrice, was the mother of all his children. Bob received the longdistance prize at our 25th reunion. His residence in Creston, Calif., was aptly named "Up the Creek Ranch." Our sincere sympathies arc extended to the entire family.
