Robert Habgood Patton Jr, ’34

Body

BOB HABGOOD, a prominent civic leader of his home¬town, Bradford, Penn., died on Sept. 15, 1989. The local newspaper wondered in an editorial "how one man, however talented, enthusiastic, and determined, could possibly have achieved so much in so many areas."

Bob devoted some 30 years to the Bradford Hospital—¬as director, president, and chairman—and to a nursing pavilion that he organized and for which he secured financing. He was director of a children's home for 17 years and three times chairman of the local Red Cross.

He founded a wood-molding plant in 1962, sold it in 1977, and, in his words, "sort of retired," although he continued to manage his family's extensive oil and gas interests. He raised award-winning English setters and was an officer of numerous area and national field-trial organizations.

He leaves his wife of 54 years, Marjorie Mallory Habgood; a son, Robert P. III '58; a daughter, Sandra McKinley; and several grandchildren. To them we offer our sincere sympathies.
