Robert I. Perina ’43

BOB DIED Aug. 2, 1991, in Madison, Wisc., at the age of 70. A native of Irvington, NJ., he graduated from Newark Academy in Livingston, from Princeton in 1943, and from the Univ. of Wisconsin Law School in 1953. Following service as a deputy district attorney, Bob entered private practice, from which he retired in 1988.

He served with great distinction in the Marine Crops during WWII, receiving the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for heroic conduct in the assault on Iwo Jima.

While on campus, Bob was a great running back for the varsity football team. Classmate and fellow attorney Murph McCarthy remembers him as having been voted "Best Athlete." Following graduation and the service, Bob played four years of pro football with the New York Yankees of the American League and the Chicago Bears of the N.F.L. perhaps the only Ivy League of his time to enter pro ranks.

Survivors of Bob Perina include his wife, the former Susanne Seifert; a daughter, Anne Perina; a son, Robert; two grandchildren; and two brothers, Carl and Dr. Anson Perma. To the entire family, we offer our deepest and most sincere condolences.
