Robert J. Blahut ’54

Body

The class sadly reports the death of Robert J. Blahut, Feb. 9, 2009, after a brave and lengthy battle with chronic lymphocytic leukemia.

Born in Plainfield, N.J., Bob grew up in Dunellen, N.J., and graduated from the Pingry School. At Princeton he majored in biology, was a member of Cannon Club, and roomed with Tom Morley and Frank Lovecchio. He went on to the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University, interned at King County Hospital in Seattle, and completed training in radiology at the University of Michigan. He served two years in the Air Force before entering the radiology practice at Peninsula Hospital in Burlingame, Calif., where he worked for 35 years.

Bob loved tennis, skiing, fishing, and golf and was a member of the California Golf Club. He particularly enjoyed summers at the family cabin at Pettit Lake, Idaho.

The class extends its sympathy to Virginia, Bob’s wife of 53 years; sons Eric, Tom, and Chris; daughter Laurie; and grandchildren Chelsea, Mitchell, Jessica, Joseph, and Eva.
