Bob died Jan. 19, 2017, in Pompano Beach, Fla.

He prepared at the Erasmus School. At Princeton Bob majored in economics, worked on the Princeton Tiger business board, and was in Tiger Inn. He roomed with Joe Donohue (who died in service in 1945) and Bill White.

Bob was in the Navy for three years on the USS Black, a destroyer. He married Patricia Ellis, who traveled with Bob wherever his job took him, starting with the Mercantile Stores Co., in Cincinnati, which moved him to Fort Lauderdale and the Bahamas.

He kept a library of more than 1,000 books on history, religion, and business. He estimated that he traveled some 200,000 miles a year, much of it with Pat. He was based in Hong Kong for a number of years, then in Honolulu. He became CEO of an international retail organization in 1987. He enjoyed a lot of golf before his retirement and continued after that on a 36-hole course. Bob and Pat were members of the Fort Lauderdale Country Club.

Pat predeceased him. He is survived by his son, Marc.
