Robert J. Meyers ’45

Body

MONK MEYERS DIED July 5, 1993. He entered Princeton from New Trier H.S. (the famed producer of outstanding athletes as well as students, many of whom came to Princeton). At Princeton, Monk was a member of Cottage Club and played football and basketball. His Princeton career was ended by service in the army air corps in the Pacific, where he was a weather forecaster. He did not return to Princeton, but took a degree from the Univ. of Chicago and a law degree from Northwestern, joining a Chicago law firm. He continued to live in Winnetka. He married Suzanne Boynton. In 1965, Monk joined the American Mutual Insurance Alliance, an insurance trade association. In later years, Monk opened his own practice in Winnetka, specializing in class-action litigation.

Monk was an avid athlete. In his post-basketball and football years, he took up golf. As a history buff, he became an authority on the Civil War and on WWII. His interest in music was eclectic, ranging from Mozart to bluegrass. A man for all seasons, he is greatly missed by family and friends. To Suzanne; to his daughters, Marjorie Graham and Zanne; to his son Robert; to his brothers Warren and Philip; and to his three grandchildren, the class extends its deep sympathy.
