Robert James Wiese ’44

Body

BOB DIED Aug. 24, 1992, in Santa Cruz, Calif. This memorial fails to cover his last 30 years. His last contact with the class was in 1964. He wrote of himself as a very happy anesthesiologist with his wife of that time, Priscilla, and three children; rock fishing practically outside his doors; playing jazz piano; and raising roller pigeons, Golden Mantle chipmunks, fancy goldfish, and waterlilies. Bob joined us from New Trier H.S. in Winnetka, where he had starred in swimming and song. At Princeton, he majored in biology, lettered in swimming, and was a member of the Glee Club. He roomed alone, first in 1903 and then at 702 Pyne, graduating in 1944. He attended Northwestern Medical School, finished his internship at the Cook County Hospital in Chicago, and then put in five years of exciting military service as a pararescue doctor, 18 months of that as the only jumpqualified service doctor in Alaska. He had found the life he loved and lived it to the hilt. He married Priscilla in 1952 and took her west to Santa Cruz, where he established his practice. To his family and his children, Patricia, Randy, and Valerie, and to all who loved this joyous man, our deepest sympathies. We would love to know more of his life.
