RETIRED ARMY OFFICER Bob Rinehart died of cancer July 28, 1992, in Montgomery, Ala. Son of Robert E. Rinehart'04, he is Survived by his widow, Elizabeth; son, Robert H.; and brother Edmon L. '42; to all of whom we offer our sincere sympathy.

Bob came to Princeton from Andover, graduated with honors in economics, participated in freshman track, and roomed with Pete Cole for two years. In 1942 he was commissioned in the U.S. Army and throughout the war served in intelligence in India, New Guinea, the Philippines, and Japan. Later he was stationed in Europe, the Far East, and the U.S. Retiring in 1963, he then went on to earn a masters degree in history and taught at the college level, finally working for the state of Alabama.

Bob had an intense interest in history, but his greatest talent was foreign languages, fie was fluent in German and Russian and had a good working knowledge of Arabic, Greek, Chinese, French, and Japanese. We salute Hot) for long and Valuable service to his country in times of extremely difficult and dangerous international relationships.
