Robert Montgomery Raiser ’92

Body

ON JULY 30, 1992, Monty Raiser died in a plane crash in Alaska. Monty was pursuing one of his passions, fly fishing, with his father, Vic Raiser '62, and his roommate Zander Scott '92, both of whom also perished in the accident.

Monty came to Princeton from St. Albans, somewhat dubious that this ivycovered school was the place for him. He quickly changed his mind. As a dedicated rower (in the lightweight varsity crew team's first boat for three years, and as a member of Ivy Club, Monty became an involved Princeton student. After graduation, Monty was busy making big plans, for which he was notorious, to start a business in Russia, and to work for the, Clinton/Gore campaign.

Monty's accomplishments are great, yet they do not even begin to do justice to this handsome, sweet, young man. With a smile that could light up the world, a quick sarcastic wit, a genuine charm, and a big heart, Monty was, simply put, a wonderful human being. He will be sorely missed.

Monty is survived by his mother, Molly; his sister, Schuyler; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Raiser; and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Robert Millonzi. Our hearts go out to them.
