Robert Ottis Clark ’52
Bob Clark died on Jan. 26, 1988, a few hundred feet from the summit of Mt Kenya. The evident cause of death was pulmonary edema, resulting from the high altitude. Bob was an enthusiastic mountain climber, and many of us will remember the photograph of him and Bob Bennett at the top of Mt. Blanc.
Bob was born in St. Paul, Minn., the son of Robert C. Clark '19, and he attended the St Paul Academy. At Princeton, he was a member of Tower Club. After graduation and service with the Army in Korea, Bob received a degree from Stanford Business School (1957). He then worked for several years in private industry and as a management consultant, and in 1962, he joined Laird and Go. Corp. as an investment banker. In 1970, Bob formed Fairmont Securities Co. in London, where he established his residence. Bob traveled extensively on account of his work in international investment banking and management, but he managed to attend numerous reunions and other Princeton functions. His warmth and openness formed and sustained many friendships. We shall miss the spontaneous good fellowship he shared with everyone.
Bob and Ruth Sargent were married in 1959, and although they divorced several years ago, their family remained close. Bob is survived by Ruth; three daughters, Hilary, Rebecca, and Daphne; and his sister, Virginia Power. To them we extend our deepest sympathy.
