Robert Sewell Mather ’36

BOB DIED suddenly of a heart attack in his Kenilworth, Ill., home, June 17, 1993.

After graduating from Hyde Park H.S. in Chicago, he majored in economics and was a member of Campus at Princeton.

He entered service in the navy in 1942 as an ordnance specialist, and served two years in the Pacific theater on the destroyer U.S.S. STEVENSON. He saw action at Iwo Jima, Okinawa, and in northern Japanese waters. He was honorably discharged in 1946 as a It. (jg),

Bob spent most of his business career with the Univ. Printing Co. and Live Stock Press of Ch icago, of which he was president.

"Rev," as he was affectionally called by many of his classmates, for many years held leadership positions with his local Boy Scout Council and the Kenilworth Union Church. His hobbies were skiing and sailing. He crewed in 23 Mackinaw races.

He is survived by his widow, Laura Garrell, a son, James S.; and daughter Martha.

He was a very loyal Princetonian and classmate. He attended many class reunions and was planning to attend our 57th last June, but sent regrets because of health reasons. He will be remembered.
