DR. ROBERT SOLOW died July 30, 1993, after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born in Newark, N.J., Sept. 11, 1925, and attended Kearny H.S. there. He later went to New York Medical College, did postgraduate work at the Menninger Foundation, and was an air force captain for two years.

At Princeton, Bob was in the marching band, the orchestra, the Tiger dance band, and WhigClio. His musical experience served him wellhe was famous in the L.A. region as a saxophone player and as the leader of "Bob's Big Band."

Bob became a very prominent psychiatrist, with a private practice in Beverly Hills and a chair as clinical professor of psychiatry at U.C.L.A. He was a fellow of the American College of Psychiatrists, president of the Southern California Psychiatric Assn., and chairman of psychiatry for the California Medical Assn. Bob was equally dedicated to community affairs, receiving numerous awards for his PTA., Boy Scout, and Y.M.C.A. leadership.

Bob is survived by his widow, Marilyn; sons Brian, Larry, Lee, and Bruce; daughter Margaret Ann; and eight grandchildren. Always a loyal '46er, Bob and Marilyn attended the minireunion in La Jolla in Mar. 1993. Marilyn wrote that Bob was looking forward to the 50th. Bob was a distinguished member of our class, and we join with his family in mourning his loss. We will miss him.
