Robert Streett Bader ’52

Body

Bob Bader died after a seven-year struggle with cancer in Hunterdon Medical Center, Flemington, N.J., on July 16, 1989. Following a service conducted by the clergy of the Lambertville Assembly of God, he was interred in his hometown, Bethlehem, Pa.

Bob’s life was rich, intense, and varied. After graduation from Blair Academy, he entered the Merchant Marine Academy, and was commissioned in 1948. He served as Third Officer in the Merchant Marine, 1948-49.

At Princeton, Bob majored in English and belonged to Elm Club, where he was active in club sports. His senior roommates were Jack Dodds, Gordon Granger, and Windsor Cousins.

Much of Bob’s business career was related to the Bonney Forge Co. in Allentown, Pa. He became a traveling representative after graduation, and rose to be its president from 1969 to 1975. His career was interrupted by two years of active duty with the U.S. Navy, when he served at sea as executive officer. When Bonney Forge became a division of Gulf and Western Industries, Bob served as V.P. of sales, and director of international sales and manufacturing operations. Bob’s leadership was recognized by his election as president of the American Pipe Fitting Association. At his death, he was owner of Covenant Fittings, Flemington, N.J.

With his wife, Virginia, Bob was deeply involved in all aspects of the Lambertville Assembly of God. Besides his wife, Bob is survived by his children, Paul, Janet, and John; and two stepchildren, Pamela and Stephen. We offer them our very deepest sympathies.
