Robert T. Barrett ’60

Bob died Oct. 28, 2010, after a battle with cancer. He was born in Wilmington, Del., and grew up in Delaware and New Jersey.

At Princeton, Bob majored in economics, ran track and cross country, and was a member of Terrace Club. He wrote his senior thesis on “Land Reform in Egypt.” After graduation, he earned a law degree at Columbia Law School.

Returning to Delaware, Bob was appointed as the first full-time law clerk for the Superior Court of New Castle County. He subsequently served as an aide to Gov. Charles Terry and was elected president of the Young Democrats. Throughout his legal career, Bob looked for ways to help other people and did a lot of pro bono work. He also loved spending time with his family. He will be remembered as impulsive, loyal, and generous to a fault.

Bob is survived by his brothers, Bill and Jim Barrett; his sister, Barbara Barrett; sons Tyler and Andrew Barrett; daughter Lisbeth Baker; and six grandchildren.

The class extends deepest sympathy to all of the family.
