Robert Thomas Sour ’52
TOM SOUR died Jan. 25, 1990. His memorial service was held in the Rye Presbyterian Church, Rye, N.Y. on Jan. 27, 1990,
Perhaps most of all, Tom was a visionary. As navigator aboard a destroyer in the Mediterranean, he developed a passion for astronomy. He and his wife, jean, had planned to build a small observatory on their property on Cape Cod. Like his father, Robert '25, Tom loved music. He dabbled at the piano, but was devoted to opera. He sat through the complete RING twice, to the amazement of his wife. In his profession, international investment banking, Tom was regarded as a "seer." After a stint with Arnerada Petroleum Corp., Oklahoma City, he joined W. L. Hutton and Co., New York, and later became senior V.P. of international securities, with Bear, Stearns and Co., and with Prescott, Ball and Turban, New York. At his death, he was senior V.P. with Gruntal and Co., New York.
Tom came to Princeton from the Loomis School. Hemajored in history, belonged to Campus Club, and chaired the Orange Key Guide Service. His roommates were Mike Ely and Philemon Sturgis.
Tom embraced his stepchildren as his own, and was devoted to his family. To his stepmother; his widow, Jean; and stepchildren Drucilla, Hillary, Huhn and Robert John; we extend our profound condolences.
