Robert Tindall Tate Jr. ’41

Body

BOB DIED Oct. 15, 1992, in Wilton, Conn. Our hearts go out to his dear widow, Connie, and his three fine sons, Bob '72, Jerry, and Randy.

Bob came to Princeton from Chicago Latin School, accompanied by his close friend Tom Fortune, with whom he roomed for two and a half years. He later roomed with John FitzGibbon and Walt McCarthy. He was a member of Charter Club and was active in Triangle Club. His undergraduate enthusiasm reached a peak as the leader of the Triangle Club chorus, with the spectacular cast featuring Duffy and Ross.

After graduation, Bob served with the 97th Infantry Division, during WWII, and spent eight months with the occupation forces in Japan. A law degree from Harvard followed. The major part of his business life was devoted to the legal department of Exxon Corp. in N.Y.C., and briefly in Tulsa.

In later years he was devoted to his property on Hoel Pond, in the Adirondacks, and supported the Adirondack Conservancy Land Purchase Fund.

We will miss Bob's keen wit and intellect, and his ebullient spirit.
