Robert W. Reisacher *48

Robert Reisacher, an architect and retired Army colonel, died March 4, 2010. He was 89.

After receiving a bachelor’s degree from Carnegie Institute of Technology in 1943, Reisacher served the Army in the South Pacific. In 1948, he earned a M.F.A. in architecture from Princeton, and then worked briefly as an architect. His Army Reserve unit was called up for three years, after which he received a Fulbright fellowship to the University of Edinburgh.

Reisacher remained in the Army, and after tours in Taiwan and Italy, he taught military history for two years at West Point. Following other appointments, he had two more deployments — one as a battalion commander in Korea and then in Vietnam with the 1st Cavalry Division. Before retiring in 1973, after 30 years, he had received a Bronze Star and the Legion of Merit.

As a civilian, Reisacher was an executive project manager in Saudi Arabia for the new Jeddah International Airport, King Saud University, and a desalinization plant. In retirement, he was involved in works of restoration and renovation.

Reisacher is survived by Tatiana, his wife of 67 years; two children; and one grandson.
