Roberts W. Brokaw Jr. ’41

Body

BOB BROKAW was killed instantly in an auto accident Jan 24, 1994, near his home in Greenville, Del. He had been retired for 15 years. His wife, Helen, passed away in 1989.

Originally from Newark, N.J., and trained as a chemical engineer at Princeton, Bob became a naval officer in WWII and served in the Pacific as a radar materiel specialist in the same RT squadron as Barney Ross. After service, he followed in his father R. W '04's footsteps and joined Dupont, where he worked in sales, sales promotion, and technical advertising. He was one of Dupont's experts in petroleum additives.

Bob's open, friendly manner was coupled with a willingness to discourse on a variety of subjects. He had a keen mind and a voluminous background in classical music, painting, and sculpture. A grandson of Howard Pyleauthor, illustrator, and founder of the Brandywine School of ArtBob's interest in the arts reflected that heritage. He loved golf and played for years at the Wilmington Country Club with Red Brown, El Graef, and partner Chuck Waugh.

We send condolences to his brother Howard '38, his son Roberts III, his daughter Jeannette B. Lindvig, and four grandsons.
