Roblee McCarthy ’42

Roblee died on Mar. 8, 1989, at his home in La Jolla, Calif. At the time of his death, he was the owner of Huggins Shoes, in La Jolla, Newport Beach, and Pasa¬dena. He was formerly a member of the La Jolla Town Council, the board of the La Jolla Y.M.C.A., and an organization known as Strongly Oriented for Action. He also belonged to the San Diego Yacht Club, the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club, and the Fourth Church of Christ Scientist

Roblee was born in St. Louis and came to Princeton from John Burroughs School, in St Louis, and Deerfield. He left Princeton after our sophomore year to serve in the Army in Italy during WWII. He left the Army with the rank of captain.

In the early 1960s, he moved to San Diego, making his home in La Jolla and entering the retail shoe business. He and Betty, his second wife and lifelong friend, were avid sailors, racing and cruising more than 25,000 miles after they moved to California. To Betty and their five children and 11 grandchildren the class extends its most sincere condolences.
