Roland Henry Schuerhoff ’36

Body

ROLAND DIED suddenly on June 24, 1989 of a heart attack at his home in Weston, Mass. He was 74.

At Princeton he majored in politics and was a member of Campus Club. He was on the varsity cross country team and was manager of the tennis team.

At the time of his death, he was a V.P. of the investment firm of A. G. Edwards and Sons. Over the years he served in important positions with Weeden and Co., Smith Barney, Clark Dodge, and Kidder Peabody.

He worked hard for Princeton as an officer of the Princeton Assoc. of New England, was a former regional chairman for Annual Giving, and was a former schools committee member. He demonstrated his tireless efforts on the P.A.N.E. Scholarship Fund. Due largely to his investment advice, the income now provides for five four-year scholarships each year. Roland loved to travel and was proficient at tennis, golf, bowling and skiing. He was a member of the Western Golf Club and was active in the Bay State Seniors Golf Assoc.

Roland was the father of the late Karen Closset and is survived by his wife, Janet Willey Schuerhoff, whom he married in 1941, sons Charles H. '67 and Robert L., and four grandchildren.

Roland was a clear thinker, very thoughtful to those who surrounded him, and exhibited no pretense or sham. He will indeed be missed as a friend and loyal Princetonian.
