Roy Taylor Ellegard ’49
FOLLOWING A VALIANT 18month battle against inoperable colon cancer, Roy died Mar. 12, 1991.
Roy was born in Hartford, Conn., may 26, 1927, and graduated from Kingswood Preparatory School in West Hartford in 1946. After freshman year at Princeton, he served in the Army for a year as a medical aide and then returned to college.
At Princeton, Roy majored in history and was president of the German Club and of the Cliosophic branch of WhigClio. Following Princeton, he tried banking and personnel work in various fields before becoming owner of Advancement Opportunities, Inc., a personnel consulting firm, recruiting and placing executive, sales, and engineering personnel. In 1968 he joined the consulting firm of Booz, Allen Hamilton in N.Y.C., and later moved on to become V.P. of Condec Corp., Old Greenwich, Conn., from which he retired in 1985.
In 1954 Roy married Jeanette Whitney, and they subsequently had two children. The family lived primarily in Weston, Conn., until moving to Naples, Fla., six years ago. Roy became an active member of the Princeton Club of Southwest Florida and had many friends in the Naples/Fort Meyers area. He and Jeanette also bought a historic house in St. AndrewsbytheSea, New Brunswick, Canada, and enjoyed their summers there.
In addition to Jeanette, Roy is survived by a son, Roy Whitney, and a daughter, Jan Ellegard Shaw. Our hearts go out to them in their loss.
