Russell Lowell Mueller ’39

Body

Russ suffered a stroke while at Anna Maria Island, Fla. last winter and died on March 19, 1991. Services were held a few days later in Green Bay, Wis., his home for many years. There he had been regional manager of Northern Propane Corp., a liquefied petroleum gas company, until his retirement.

Russ earned his M.B.A. at Harvard in 1941 and soon after was on duty with U.S.N.R. for three years, mainly in the Pacific. He and the former Hallie Dee Smith were married in 1947 and had four children Russell Jr., Paul, Janet, and Marian and eight grandchildren.

Russ was active in the Union Congregational Church, for a time as chairman of its board of trustees. He was also an officer in various trade associations. His spare time was devoted to his family and his hobbies of woodworking and sailing. The latter came easily because his cottage was directly on the waterfront of a beautiful lake. We still have a photo of Russ, Hallie Dee, and their family seated at water's edge on a summer day long ago. With deep sympathy, we share their sense of loss, ever grateful for memories we keep of Russ as we knew him.
