Sanford Alexander Kellogg ’35

Body

WE REGRET to report that Sandy died Jan. 10, 1992, after four long years in a Greenwich, Conn., nursing home.

Sandy was the son of F. Leonard Kellogg and Emilie Humphreys Baker of N.Y.C. He came to Princeton from Choate and majored in economics, earning second group honors in his junior year. He was a member of Colonial Club.

Always an ardent sailor, Sandy participated in the Transatlantic Yacht Race to Bergen, Norway, in June 1935. He later served as commodore of the prestigious Storm Trysail Club.

Before and after WWII Sandy worked with the New York Dock Co.; and during the war he was in the Army Corps of Engineers as port engineer in Philadelphia.

In 1954 Sandy returned to yearround residence in Bar Harbor, Me., where he was active in community affairs and sailing activities, as well as hunting and fishing.

Sandy married Merilee Becker, who sadly died when their son and daughter were in their early teens. His second wife, jean Greenwood, died; a subsequent marriage to Wilhelmina Jessup ended in divorce.

The Class extends its deepest sympathy to Sandy's son Neil and grandchildren Andrew and Kathryn Kellogg., to daughter Emily and grandchildren Liza, Wendy and Andrew Hinman; and to his brother Francis Kellogg '40.
