Sanford F. Ketcham ’35

SANFORD F. KETCHAM died Oct. 20, 1992, of emphysema and colon cancer, both diagnosed when he was admitted to the hospital three weeks earlier for a slight heart attack.

In 1977, Sanford retired from Mobil Oil Co. after 42 years service in lubrication, taking on sales promotion, wholesale sales and purchases, packaging, supply, and distribution. In Summit, N.J., where Sandy lived for 47 years, he was a member of the American Red Cross, the Summit Historical Society, and the Old Guard of Summit. From the time his children were young, he and his family enjoyed summers at their camp on Turtle Island, Echo Lake, Me. At Princeton, he majored in politics and was a member of Key & Seal. Sandy was a loyal Princetonian and one of his true joys was his affiliation with the University and especially his classmates. He always came to Reunions, even as a widower. Herbert T Ketcham, also of'35, is a distant cousin.

The centerpiece of Sanford's life was a very happy marriage to Frances Wood, from June 1939 until she died in Apr. 1988. His survivors are his children Scott F., Audrey Ketcham Marshall, and David Ross, and five grandchildren, to whom the Class sends sincere condolences.
