SEWARD "TAD" BYAM, a financial executive, died June 3, 1991.

Tad was born in Bridgeport, Conn., Jan. 9, 1928, and prepared for college at Tower Hill in Wilmigton, Del. At Princeton he majored in economics and was a member of Colonial Club. He served in the Marine Corps from 1946 to 1947, returned to college, and remained in the Marine Corps Reserve from 1947 to 1951.

Following a brief association with Hercules Powder Co. and study at the Univ. of Delaware, Tad joined DuPont in 1951 and worked in fibers manufacturing sales, and marketing until 1967, He served as business manager for the Dow Badische Co. from 1967 to 1976 and, from 1976 to 1979, was marketing director of the Borg Textile Corp. He was V.P. of Tower Securities Inc., from 1979 to 1981, and then joined the investment firm of A.E. Beer & Co., Inc. At his death he was president of Seward, Groves, Richard & Wells, Inc., which he founded, and was managing director of Fiduciary Counsel, Inc., N.Y.C., investment advisers.

In 1950 Tad married Eleanor Ann Schwind, and they had two children, the marriage later ending in divorce. He subsequently married Constance P. Randell, who has passed away. Tad was a member of Mensa, the Sons of the American Revolution, the Union League Club, P.C. of New York, the Nassau Club or Princeton, and the Apawamis Club of Rye, N.Y.

Tad is survived by his son John, his daughter Pamela Byam Tinsley, his sister Marjorie Cotton Cribb, and three grandchildren. To all of them the Class extends its deepest sympathies.
