AFTER A LONG PERIOD of retirement living in Florida, Shel Wells, son of Sheldon S. '12, died May 13, 1994. From N.Y.C. and Westminster School, he majored in philosophy at Princeton, where he won departmental honors, was a member of the Philosophy Forum, joined Cloister Inn, and had Bill Burley and George Haas for roommates.

Shel fulfilled a career as a army officer, reaching the rank of lt. col. Before and immediately after WWII service in Europe, he worked for Grace Lines, the Dept. of State, and various airlines. Recalled to active duty in 1951, he had two tours in Korea, two years in Japan, and four very gratifying years as an R.O.T.C. professor at Princeton, followed by service at Governor's Island, the Pentagon, and Italy,

Upon retirement in 1966, Shel and his wife, Mary, lived in Spain for a short period and finally settled in Florida, where he engaged in real estate. Shel listed his outside interests over the years as sports cars, sailing, golf, photography, hi-fi, and siamese cats. The class extends its sympathy and sincere condolences to his widow, Mary.
