SHMUEL HORWITZ died in Feb. 1990 during the ambush of an Israeli tour bus in Egypt. He obtained a Ph.D. from the art and architecture program. He is survived by his widow, who was injured in the attack, and three sons. He worked for Israel's Ministry of Housing and taught at the Technion. Architecture professor emeritus Chester Rapkin called Horwitz "a man of rare self-discipline who demanded a great deal of himself."
