Sidney M. Sternbach Jr. ’31

STEW DIED Mar. 17, 1993, in Ossining, N.Y. He prepared at Choate School. He roomed for three years with E. J. Mack Jr. and S. N. Summer Jr. Stew was a stockbroker, beginning his career with the brokerage firm of Toerge and Schiffer, New York. He left them in 1939 to go into the brokerage business for himself. At the time ofour 50th reunion, he was V.P. of Bear Stearns & Co. and a member of the New York Stock Exchange. He was treasurer of the Buttonwood Club of the New York Stock Exchange and was a volunteer to the Golden Outreach program of the Westchester S.P.C.A. He is survived by two sons, Peter and John; a daughter, Judith; a sister; six grandchildren; and one greatgrandchild. A loyal supporter of the Class of'31, he will be missed.
