Sidney Raymond Collins ’50

Body

SID COLLINS died on Sept. 19, 1989, of a heart attack at his vacation home in Bethany Beach, Del., only two months after retiring at age 62.

Sid entered Princeton in 1946 after serving in the Navy for a year following graduation from St. Albans School in Washington, D.C. A mechanical-engineering major and member of Tower Club, Sid roomed with classmates Bob Smith and Jim Speers. Sid spent his entire business career in Washington as an engineer, first with Emerson Research Laboratories, then with Airborne Instruments Laboratories, and, since 1981, as a marketing specialist with I.T.T.

Immediately after graduation, Sid married his childhood sweetheart, Anne Poole, who survives him after 39 years of marriage. Also surviving are his son, James; three daughters, Christine, Sally, and Laura; and four grandchildren. To all of them the class extends its sincere sympathy.
