Silas L. Warner ’46

SI WARNER DIED in San Francisco Nov. 20, 1993. He entered Princeton from Choate in June 1942 arid received his Princeton degree in 1945 after his first year at Northwestern Medical School. A premed student, Si played varsity soccer and j.v. hockey, as well as wrestling, tennis, and 150pound football. He was a member of Cap and Gown.

After Northwestern, internship and residency followed at the Menninger School of Psychiatry. Si's practice included a consulting relationship with Swarthmore College while he was also senior attending psychiatrist at the Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. A dedicated researcher arid writer, Si coauthored a major work on personality disorders entitled THE PSYCHCHIC PURSONAL11Y. Other published works dealt with such subjects as how preschool children learn and the relationship among truth, reality, falsehoods, and delusions. His many professional papers and articles included a major feature in THE NEW YORK TIMES on the use of cocaine in professional sports. His marriage in 1963 to Libby Severinghaus Dingle combined his three children with her three, A seventh joined them in 1964. Libby enthusiastically shared Si's love of Princeton ' even while recruiting football players for her alma mater, Cornell. To Libby and all her family, the class extends its loving sympathy.
