Somers K. Steelman ’54

Body

Born in Elizabeth, N.J., he was a graduate of Atlantic City High School and remained a resident of Longport, N.J., for the rest of his life. At Princeton, he majored in biology and was a member of Cottage Club and active in varsity football.

After graduation he served as a captain in the Marine Corps. He remained a loyal Princeton alumnus, served on every reunion committee, and attended every class reunion. He was also an alumnus of the Ventnor City Beach Patrol. He remained active in real estate for most of his life. His constant presence will be sorely missed by our class.

Syd is survived by his wife, Joan; sons Michael and Daniel; sister Nan; and grandchildren Michael, Somers, Rebecca, and Christiann. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. The class extends its sympathy to the family.
