Stacy B. Lloyd ’30

Body

Stacy B. Lloyd died at his home, Long Pond Farm, in Berryville, Va., after an accident when the horse he was training bolted and overturned his buggy. He was 86.

Stacy was one of the most prominent members of our class. An outstanding athlete (Varsity Club), he was also president of Ivy Club, and chairman of the Intra-Collegiate Athletic Assn.

He prepared at St. Paul's. His father and four of his uncles graduated from Princeton. During WWII, he was a highly decorated staff officer for Gen. "Wild Bill" Donovan of the O.S.S. in England, N. Africa, and Italy.

From 1949-81, he operated the Island Dairies in St. Croix, V.I., and was active in thoroughbred racing there.

He then returned to Virginia, where he founded and edited THE CHRONICLE OF THE HORSE for 15 years. An avid outdoorsman, he sailed and golfed.

He is survived by his widow, Vaide, whom he married in 198l; a daughter, Eliza Moore; and two sons, Stacy B. III and Robin. The class extends its deepest sympathy to his family.
