Stanley Walsh ’38

Body

THE CLASS LOST one of its most energetic members when Stan Walsh succumbed to Alzheimer's disease, January 30, 1991.

Until stricken four years ago, our handsome classmate had been an avid surfer and triweekly lap swimmer.

Stan was one of a large contingent from Lawrenceville. He studied engineering, joined Cap and Gown, and competed in varsity football and swimming. He roomed with Dave Reich. After sophomore year Stan transferred to Babson College and graduated in 1938.

World War 11 saw him in Iran, China, Burma, and India, setting up repair bases for military aircraft. He worked variously at Bendix Helicopters, Jensen Helicopters, and LockheedGeorgia Co. as a salesman for corporate jet aircraft. He retired from Grumman Aerospace as Regional Sales Manager, corporate jets.

Stan was a loyal Princetonian, participating in Class activities in the San Francisco area, especially football tailgate gettogethers at Stanford stadium.

He is survived by his wife of almost 45 years, the former Mary O'Rourke; a son, Stanley II; daughter, Elizabeth Dickerson; and two grandchildren. Another son, Sgt. James Kirkland Walsh (U.S.A. Ret.), died in 1982.

We are with the family in their grievous loss.
