Stu died April 4, 2026, at home in Chicago.

He grew up in Edison, N.J. Coming to Princeton from Regis High School in New York City, he majored in history with a concentration on the Near East. He went on to study at King Saud University as a Fulbright scholar and earned an M.A. in business economics from the UPenn.

A gifted linguist fluent in French, Arabic, and Turkish, Stu had a distinguished career in corporate finance at Citibank, Salomon Brothers, and Sara Lee, with postings in Saudi Arabia, Côte d’Ivoire, and France. He concluded his career as CFO at Christ the King College Preparatory School in Chicago, where he devoted a decade to expanding access to quality education for underserved students on the city’s west side.

Stu was admired for his wide-ranging curiosity, incisive intellect, and contrarian spirit. His passions ranged from the symphony to his beloved New York Mets, and he was rarely without a book in hand and an opinion about what you should be reading next. He was a passionate and masterful cook, having begun cooking as a member of a cooperative in Spelman.

Stu is survived by his wife, Delia Flores; his children, Mike ’10 and Elizabeth; his stepchildren; his mother; and three siblings.
