T. Hughlett Henry Jr. ’32
THE CLASS LOST another eminent lawyer and civic leader when Hugh Henry died Aug. 28, 1994, at his home in Easton, Md.
After receiving his LL.B. from the Univ. of Maryland, Hugh returned to Easton, where he practiced law all his life except for the war years. He was past president of the Talbot County Bar Assn., past president of the Second Judicial Bar Assn., and past v.p. of the Maryland Bar Assn. In 1990, he was honored as one of Talbot County's outstanding citizens, having chaired the courthouse improvement committee for 10 years, advocated the original Talbot County zoning ordinance, and helped to develop the county charter. His numerous civic activities included serving on several boards of directors and as chairman of Easton Natl. Bank; chairman of Memorial Hospital Foundation, Inc.; president of the Historical Society of Talbot County; treasurer of the Nature Conservancy, Maryland Chapter; and board member of the Baltimore Symphony Assn.
Hugh also had a distinguished war record, serving with the field artillery through several campaigns and being awarded a Bronze Star with oak-leaf cluster and several battle stars, retiring as a colonel.
Hugh's first wife, Virginia Parrott, whom he married in 1942, died in 1986. In 1992, he married Jane Jones Lane, who survives him, and to whom the class extends its sincere sympathy.
