Theodore G. Bachran Jr. ’27

Body

TED, OUR able class treasurer, died July 16, 1993, in Holy Redeemer Hospital outside of Philadelphia, of complications following a series of strokes and heart bypass surgery, which he faced bravely.

Ted came to us from Princeton Prep School. At Princeton, he was awarded the Univ. B Scholarship and was a member of the Gateway Club. He majored in English.

After graduation, he became an adjuster and claims supervisor for the Keystone Auto Club Casualty Co. In 1938, he married Marie Cover. During WWII, he served in the army as a first lieutenant in the Office of the Chief of Chemical Warfare Service, receiving the Army Commendation Ribbon.

In 1950, he became president of Penn Eastern Adjusters, Inc., serving until his retirement in 1970. For many years, he was active with the Baptist Church as treasurer and president. Later, he was a trustee of the Oak Ln. and Abington Baptist Churches. His lifelong hobby was photography and he made movies of many 1927 class reunions and gatherings.

He is survived by his widow, Marie; his adopted daughter, Nancy Cover Frezza; three grandchildren; and one greatgrandchild. To them, the class extends much sympathy in the loss of one of its most loyal members.

V.P. Kutch Mayers, his wife Ros, and Curtin Winsor represented the class at Ted's funeral.
