Thomas Alexander Cooper ’35
TOM COOPER died June 3, 1990, at the Stanford Univ. hospital in Palo Alto, where he had been treated for cancer. He is Survived by his widow, Kate; son Tom '69; daughter Kate; and four grandchildren.
At Princeton Tom majored in classics and was a member of Cannon Club. Following Princeton, he served as a captain in the Third Armored division in Europe during WWII, earning Bronze and Silver stars for combat during the Battle of the Bulge. After the war, he returned to the Third National Bank in Nashville, where he worked, mainly in investments, until he retired in 1973. He was the first chartered financial analyst in the state of Tennessee.
Tom was an avid tennis player, and he and Kate moved to Naples, Fla., in 1976, partly for the warm climate and the opportunity it offered him to play year round. He enjoyed three weekly doubles games up until six months before he died.
To his wife of almost five years, Kate Sneed Mason Cooper, the Class extends its sincere sympathy, as well as to the rest of the family.
