Thomas Fisher Jr. ’37

Body

CHEERFUL, METICULOUS, conservative, loyal Tom Fisher died Oct. 28, 1992, of lung cancer. He left his wife of 54 years, Martha; young Tom (Tim) '62; daughters Ann Falby and Eleanor Thompson; and seven grandchildren.

At Hotchkiss, to which he was always faithful, Tom was on the class football and baseball teams and was active in debating and dramatics. He majored in philosophy at Princeton and was a member of the Philosophy Forum, NASSAU HERALD board, Right Wing Club, Thursday Afternoon Club, and Cap and Gown.

Following six years in the casualty insurance business, he entered the Navy, emerging as a lieutenant (j.g.), after service aboard, among other vessels, a submarine tender in the Pacific. From 1947 until his retirement in 1985, he had his own investment advisory business in Pennsylvania. He was involved in church and hospital affairs, including the Church of the Redeemer (Episcopal) in Bryn Mawr. In 1973 he was vicechairman of the board of Episcopal Hospital.

Important in Princeton and Class affairs, Tom ran our Annual Giving from 1952 to 1957, was treasurer from 1957 to 1962, and was finance chairman for our i5th reunion and our 20th reunion at which we gave Princeton the 1937 Dormitory. He was also on the $53 million special gifts committee.

The Class sends its condolences to the family on the loss of a very wonderful man.
