Thomas Foster Huntington ’42
Tom graduated from the Asheville School. At Princeton he rowed on the freshman crew, joined Charter Club, and graduated with honors in mechanical engineering. The friends he roomed with in 1901 Hall — Carter, Laird, Reinhart, Pettengill, Toll, Tilford, and Mailloux — remained his friends for the rest of his life. Tom went on to receive an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1946.
Tom started a business career with a management position at Johnson & Johnson. He later became vice president and executive assistant to the president at Trans World Airlines. For many years he was a trustee of Robert College in Istanbul and for two years was president of the Near East College Association. He was active in environmental affairs.
Tom entered into every project that interested him — including sailing at Jamestown, R.I., skiing, cabinet-making, photography, and ballroom dancing — with energy and enthusiasm.
To his wife, Jean O’Neil Huntington; his daughters, Ellen Slade, Louisa Huntington, and Deborah Huntington; his stepchildren, Henry Fisher and Cornelia Serti; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren, the class sends condolences.
