Thomas Hart Anderson ’51

Body

TOMMY DIED on March 4. He had been afflicted with Alzheimer's Disease for 15 years. He was born in Princeton and lived in Hopewell, NJ.

Among friends of all ages he was known as T. Hart or Tommy. He loved great numbers of people and they wanted to be around him. He was creative — sometimes off-the-wall — but that was his charm.

Tommy came from an advertising background. His father (‘17) was a principal in two New York agencies. Tommy was a space advertising salesman for BETTER HOMES AND GARDENS and READER'S DIGEST until he retired in 1979.

He was a member of the Hopewell Presbyterian Church and the board of the Hopewell Museum. He belonged to the Princeton Club of New York and the Philadelphia Racquet Club.

Tommy was in the Navy from 1944 to 1946. He went to Andover and was graduated from the Hun School. He majored in history at Princeton, was on the business board of the DAILY PRINCETONIAN, was a member of Tiger Inn, and roomed with Andy Leh, Parker Hall, Andy Happer, and Tom Bancroft.

Bill Mettler, Dick Paynter, and Ralph Peters represented the Class at Tommy's funeral. In addition to Millie and their son, Tom, Tommy is survived by a daughter, Barbara Van Liew, a sister, Barbara Fraker (w'39), and five grandchildren.

The Class extends its deep sympathy to all of them.
