Thomas P. Birmingham ’47

Body

After graduating from Princeton in 1949, Tom earned an M.B.A. at NYU’s business school and then began a successful career in insurance, investments, and banking.

In 1951, during his law school days, Tom married Allison “Ally” Rood, his devoted lifelong partner. Eventually they moved to St. Petersburg, Fla., where Tom found more time to “give back” his talents through service to others — by helping the elderly prepare their tax forms and teaching at a local college, for example.

Tom died April 28, 2010, after living an intense, caring life devoted to continued learning, hard work, helping others in need, loyalty to Princeton, and, above all, to his cherished family. He was delighted that two daughters (Allison ’74 and Carolyn ’83) also graduated from Old Nassau.

To Ally, their four children, and four grandchildren, we send with our warm wishes, this remembrance of a great classmate.
