Tom died Aug. 14, 2015, in San Francisco. He was surrounded by family and had been battling neuroendocrine pancreatic cancer since 2009.

Tom was a fifth-generation Californian and grew up in Redwood City. At Princeton, he majored in politics and was a proud member of the Class of 1964, attending many reunions.

After graduation, Tom became a CPA and rose to become managing partner of KPMG’s Oakland office. He went on to start his own consulting practice but later joined Law & Economics Consulting Group as a principal. In 1994, Tom was elected to the board of directors of Essex Property Trust, serving as chairman of the audit committee until his death.

He was an active member and president of the Golden Gate Wine Society and an avid traveler, skier, and hiker. Tom loved nothing more than a day outdoors followed by a great meal, fine wine, and good cheer. He will be remembered for his infectious laugh, incisive wit, and adventurous spirit.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn; sons Wade ’87 and Bradley; older brother John; identical twin Jim ’64; and six grandchildren. He will be missed.
