Thomas T. Cook ’37

Thomas “Ty” Cook died Feb. 13, 2011, at his home in Lake Oswego, Ore.  

He was born in Baltimore and attended St. Paul’s School in Garden City, N.Y. At Princeton he majored in economics and graduated with honors. He was on the varsity tennis squad and belonged to Key and Seal Club.

After graduation, Ty worked at Western Electric Co. in New York. Later he joined the Navy and was assigned to the transport Day Star, which sailed on a prolonged cruise for two years covering 80,000 miles. After his discharge as a lieutenant, Ty joined the Bell system (Pacific Northwest Bell Telephone Co.), where he worked for 42 years. He traveled on business extensively throughout the United States before retiring to Lake Oswego. One of Ty’s hobbies was photography.

He married Helen Anderson, and the couple had one son and one daughter in addition to two grandsons and one granddaughter. We are saddened to lose this loyal classmate and we extend our sympathy with fond remembrances to his family and friends.
