Thomas Zawadzki ’47 *50

Body

TOM DIED of a heart attack July 16, 1994, in Princeton, where he had lived for many years. He entered Princeton in 1946 after naval service in the Pacific and one year at M.I.T. After earning his A.B. in 1948, he stayed on at Princeton and got an M.S. in engineering. In 1949, he married Annamarie Rehfeldt.

Tom’s career was in chemistry.  Over the years, his expertise in that field led him to positions in many firms, including General Cable, Firestone Rubber, Cary Chemical, the Plastics Institute of America, Princeton Chemical Research, and Princeton Polymer Labs. When not at work, Tom enjoyed art, architecture, and the culture of Britain. He often attended the class luncheons in Princeton on the first Friday of the month, where good food and conversation, his other pleasures, were available.

Tom had been retired for several years at the time of his death. A devoted Princetonian, he will be missed by the class. To Annamarie and their sons Dirk and Jan, we extend our profound sympathy.
