Thornton H. Hough ’49

Body

Thorn died Dec. 6, 2008, at the age of 81.

He prepared for Princeton at Lawrenceville. At Princeton he majored in electrical engineering, was on the track team, and was a member of Elm Club.

Thorn began his work career with IBM in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., where he met and married Patricia VanBree. A move to Philadelphia with IBM followed. Thorn later changed employers and moved to Sewickley, Pa., where he worked for Mellon Bank in Pittsburgh until his retirement.

After retirement he took up residence in Winter Park, Fla., but continued to work in the banking industry for Sun Bank. Thorn’s lifetime hobbies included furniture making, photography, and following the stock market.

Thorn’s wife, Patricia, predeceased him in 2008. They had two daughters, Christine Asher and Heather Hough; and two grandchildren. The class extends its sincere sympathy to them on their loss.
