A. Thornton Scott ’29

THORNTON DIED Feb. 6, 1993. After Princeton, he graduated from Cornell Medical College and prac6ced at Boston City and Massachusetts General Hospitals. He moved to Lexington, Ky., in 1939. During the war, he was in the navy medical corps and served on the U.S.S. MISSOURiI He returned to Lexington after the war and became president of the staff at Saint Joseph's Hospital, while also serving on the staff of Good Samaritan Hospital. He retired to private practice in 1974. He was a clinical professor of medicine at the Univ. of Kentucky and a physician at the federal correctional institute.

Music was always a major interest for Thornton, and he was founding president of three organizationsthe Chamber Music Society, the Youth Music Society of Central Kentucky, and the Lexington Philharmonic. He married Catherine Little, and she survives, together with two sons, Dr. Robert A. T. and Whitney L., and two daughters, Catherine Scott Amory and Elizabeth Scott Hayes.
