Timothy E. Sicks ’52
AFTER A LONG STRUGGLE with cancer, Tim Sicks died May 5, 1994, at King Edward VII Hospital in Midhurst, England, where he was a consulting psychiatrist for ten years. His reputation was such that attendance at his funeral had to be restricted to 200 people.
Tim's energy and talent matched his restless creativity. An economics major and a member of Tiger Inn, he served as forward observer and battery executive officer in Korea. He next earned his brewmasters certificate at the Siebel Institute of Technology in Chicago, and became general manager of Sicks Breweries in Seattle, a family-owned business. At age 26, Tim began the study of medicine in London receiving his degree in 1965. After three years of practice as an ob-gyn, he began training in psychiatry and earned a master's in l972.
Excelling as student and leader, Tim captained the baseball team at the Thatcher School, where he was also chairman of the student body. Devoted to Princeton, he returned from England for several reunions. Because of their shared backgrounds in Canada, he developed a special friendship with President Shapiro.
Tim is survived by his widow, Teresa; son Thomas; daughters Lucy, Phoebe, and Emma; sisters Patricia Thomas, Helen S. Minton, and Diana Ingram; and brother-in-law Robert Minton '40. We extend to them our deep sympathy.
