A. Vernon Shannon ’26

Body

SHANNON died Jan. 1, 1992, at age 87, after years of a brave struggle against afflictions which included a severe, lasting case of shingles and a close call with an aneurism. His determination and the faithful help of his widow, Alice, have been an inspiration to Micky's many friends.

We remember Micky as a versatile person who played many parts with the same determination shown in his illness. He won the Eastern interscholastic golf title in 1922 and played on the golf team at college. He his numerals in football, sang in the Glee Club, made the Triangle Club, was on the senior council, and was president of Tiger Inn. In business after graduation, Micky also had an interesting career. He was the founder of Brier of Pacon Manufacturing Co., which developed unique packaging for sterile disposables used by hospitals and the medical profession.

We honor this gallant man who at all times was a loyal Tiger and supportive member of the Class. He is survived by his widow, the former Alice Bishop, whom he married in 1964; by A. V. Jr., Christopher C., and Nancy S. Ford, children of an earlier marriage to the late Jeanne McCormick Shannon; and by six grandchildren. To all of them we extend our deep sympathy.
