Victor H. Hexter II ’48

HEXTER, a builder and developer and member of a pioneer Dallas family, died Jan. 27, 1992.

Vic attended Andover Preparatory Academy and served during WWII in the U. S. Navy. He graduated from Princeton in 1949 with a B.A. in history. In 1952 he received the LL.B. degree from Stanford Univ. Present day Supreme Court justices Renquist and O'Connor were in his class. He was a third generation member of the firm Hexter Title & Abstract Co., founded by his father, Louis Hexter. His grandfather, Victor Hexter, was a Dallas city councilman in the 1930s. The Victor Hexter Elementary School is named for him.

Vic continued in the family tradition of real estate. He did his own developing. Like his father, he was a patron of the arts and served on the board of the Dallas Repertory Theatre. In recent years he was active in "Contact 214," a volunteer counseling hot line.

In 1955, Vic married Emily Lefkowitz. They had three children, Holly '78, Louis J. 11, and Victoria, and two grandchildren. He is also survived by his second wife, Khaki Frost, and a sister Joan Warshaw.
